Convo’s focus is on quality of interpreting, service and video. By focusing on those 3 areas, your experience as a caller should be just the same as if you are talking to another deaf person in person. You should never have to adjust your signing style so the interpreter would understand you.

We will work with you to ensure that you have your own phone number through Convo. Please send an email to register@convorelay.com requesting for your own phone number and we will contact you to go through a verification process as soon as possible.

1. Open iChat from the Dock or the Applications folder. A dialog opens to help you set up your account. Follow the instructions on the screen to configure iChat. If you don't have an account yet, click "Get an iChat Account" to sign up for a free one. This account will have an account name that ends with @mac.com and will work within the AIM network so you can use iChat to chat with your AIM buddies.

2. Once everything's configured, iChat opens and displays the Buddy List window. This is where you'll be able to see who is available to chat once you add people to your Buddy List. Your account appears at the top; your current status should show you as being "Available." Other iChat and AIM users who've added your account to their buddy list can view your name and status in their window.

3. If you want to change your status, click your status and choose a new one from the menu. You can choose one like Away or choose Custom and type your own customized status message for special occasions.

4. You may also see a green "phone" icon next to your iChat picture. If your computer has a built-in mic, or you have an external one plugged in, you may see a phone icon, which lets your fellow iChat buddies know that you're available to audio chat. If you have a FireWire or compatible USB camera connected to your computer, or a built-in one such as an iSight or DV camera, a movie camera icon displays to let other iChat users know that you're available to video chat.

1. Choose Add Buddy... from the Buddies menu.
2. Type in ConvoIM in the Account Name field and choose AIM from the drop down list.
3. Click on Add

You can preview the video on adding ConvoIM to your buddylist.

Just as you would when you send a message to your friend, type in a phone number you want to call. We will connect you to the next available interpreter and send you a video invitation.

Should you wish to cancel your call, type hang up.

After you attempt to add ConvoIM to your buddy list, restart iChat if the disappearing persists.

This is a known iChat issue and affects some computers. We anticipate that Apple will resolve this in the Snow Leopard release.

Thanks to Apple, they made it possible for iChat to bypass most firewalls such at the airports or any coffee cafe places. With a WiFi or hotspot account, you will be able to use ConvoIM on the road.

Enter "convorelay.tv" into the dial box. Add it to your contact list to quickly access our service every time you make a call.
