David was self-taught, discovering his love of art at the age of four. Born Deaf, he used drawing as a means for communication with his hearing parents. With encouragement from his visual arts teacher at California School for the Deaf in Riverside, he branched out to different mediums, from ink to stained glass to linocut. Today, David is an art teacher at California School for the Deaf in Fremont and he inspires Deaf children to answer questions about their Deaf identity through art.
